“But when I found that I knew not only that there was God but that I was a child of God, when I understood that, when I comprehended that, more than that, when I internalized that, ingested that, I became courageous.”
~ Maya Angelou

Call to Worship
Father Abraham has many sons.
Black ones and white ones
Yellow, brown and red ones.
We all claim Father Abraham!
Mother Sarah has many daughters.
Poor ones and rich ones
Young ones, retired ones.
We all claim mother Sarah!
I have a story, you have a story, and God has a story.
Look for yourself in the beginning of the story
Of Father Abraham.
And Mother Sarah.
And all people of faith!

“And Abram Went”
Offering Prayer
Generous God,
you shower us with gifts,
including the greatest gift of all,
your own Son, Jesus Christ.
In thanksgiving and praise,
we offer you our time, our money,
our very selves.
In these actions,
we proclaim our intention to be a blessing
in your world. Amen

Celebration of Holy Communion
As we come again to this table
we remember the story that Jesus’ friends told.
It was a night of celebration and also betrayal
when Jesus took the bread left over on the table
blessed it and broke it and shared it with them saying,
“When you eat this bread, and remember me,
you become one in my body.”
On that same night in much the same way
he took the cup after supper saying,
“My very lifeblood will be poured out
but when you drink this cup, and remember me,
I will be in you.”
Come Holy Spirit, come.
Bless this bread and bless this fruit of the vine.
Bless all of us in our eating and drinking
that our eyes might be opened,
that we might recognize the risen Christ in our midst,
indeed, in one another.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

May God the Creator
prepare your journey,
Jesus the Redeemer
guide your footsteps,
The Spirit of Life
strengthen your body and soul,
The Three in One
