ABOUT ASH WEDNESDAY
Dear Friends,
Happy Shrove Tuesday! On this day before the beginning of Lent, I would invite you to join me at 9AM tomorrow for an Ash Wednesday service from the Upper Room Chapel in Nashville, TN. (It will be available at your convenience any time after 9 AM PST, if you cannot watch then.) The service will be led by Beth Richardson who is the director of prayer and worship life at The Upper Room. I have used a number of her books over the years for my daily devotional time, and most recently her book Christ Beside Me, Christ With Me: Celtic Blessings. The service will be on Facebook and on YouTube and here are the links:https://www.facebook.com/UpperRoomCenter/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfNElMKKJJE In the place of ashes tomorrow you can substitute just plain old dirt – which is actually perfect. Or, you can use oil or even water. In addition to having one of these ready, also have a candle you can light as well.
The ashes of Ash Wednesday take on a special poignancy for us this Lenten season as we are now almost a year into a pandemic where we have had all too many reminders that we are “ashes to ashes and dust to dust.” However, may we find comfort in knowing that we are in this together and that our faith tells us that God is loving us and guiding us every step of the way. I hope that some of you can worship with me at 9AM in the morning – and that others can participate at the time of your convenience tomorrow. In ministry with you, Kate

As I have shared, if this is your dinner time – no worries! You can turn off your video and enjoy your meal as you listen to the presentation and then be able to join in on the question and answer period.
